Established in 1883 by four brothers-Henry, Robert, Alfred, and Pred Johnson-the business began on a modest scale. Over the past 70 years, Johnson Bros. has grown to become one of the largest earthenware manufacturers globally, with several factories in England and beyond. The current leader of the company is Sir Brnest Johnson.
The craftsmanship of this firm is marked by its distinclive lightness and quality finish. The company's name originates from the founders: Alfred, Prederick, Henry, and Robert Johnson. Their father was married to the daughter of a master potter, James Meakin. In 1883, Alfred and Prederick began production at the Charles Street Works, a defunct pottery they acquired during a bankruptcy sale in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent.
They initially specialized in durable earthenware, branded as "White Granite." The success of this product led to swift growth, with Rev. Henry Johnson joining in 1888, followed a decade later by their brother Robert.
All jewellery findings and chains are made with Stainless Steel (the most recyclable material available) unless otherwise stated.
