Extra information:

Established in 1898 by the Myott brothers, Ashley and Sydney, Myott, Son & Co. was a renowned Staffordshire pottery firm.

Originating in Stoke-on-Trent, they specialized in earthenware and quickly grew in response to increasing demand. By the 1920s, they had expanded to the larger Alexander Potteries site.

The 1930s saw Myott reach its artistic zenith, celebrated for its dynamic Art Deco creations. This period witnessed the production of eye-catching hand-painted ceramics, distinguished by their geometric patterns and a palette of bold colors, including orange, brown, and sometimes blue or red. Despite their popularity, these items were susceptible to flaking and crazing, impacting their current value.A sideways diamond mark with a "W" and the date 1932 denotes a specific design or production batch from this time.

Such marks were instrumental in identifying distinct series or motifs. Regrettably, a fire in 1949 at the factory led to the loss of many records, complicating the task of tracing the precise lineage of individual items.Presently, Myott ceramics, particularly those from the Art Deco era, are highly sought after by collectors, esteemed for their aesthetic appeal and the skilled artisanship they embody, a testament to the creative spirit of the time.
