This sherd features part Blue and white Victorian

Transferware Pattern which is a typical pattern for the period. It shows a light flow blue Nankin border with floral breaks in the pattern. It's likely that this was a Chinese design or a reproduction of a Chinese design.

Blue & white ceramics have been produced in China for many years. In the early 19th century, the style inspired a production movement in England Influential artists like James McNeill Whistler collected these ceramics. The growing middle class also collected the patterns to demonstrate their cultural tastes, & the colour of the Blue & White China was a welcome addition to the typically dark Victorian interior.
