The tragic story behind the Carlton Ware company

In 1918, tragedy struck at Stoke Railway Station, resulting in the untimely death of the company's founder, James F. Wiltshaw. His son, Frederick Cuthbert Wiltshaw, a brave member of the Royal Plying Corps, was granted compassionate leave from the war to take charge of the family company's affairs. After the war ended, he decided not to return to service and instead assumed the role of the company's leader. However, more misfortune befell the family in 1954, when Frederick's wife, Alice, was tragioally murdered at their home by a disgruntled ex-chauffeur. Despite the hardships, Frederick held on to the company until his passing in 1966, creating beautiful ceramics throughout his time.

This Chain is made of suede leather.
