This sherd features part of a deep blue flower that seems to be in the Chinese style. The blue in the glaze and the porcelain has a blue hue making it likely to be pearlware. Which dates it to the Late Georgian/ Victorian period.
Blue & white ceramics have been produced in China for many years. In the early 19th century, the style inspired a production movement in England.
Influential artists like James McNeill Whistler collected these ceramics. The growing middle class also collected the patterns to demonstrate their cultural tastes, & the colour of the Blue & White China was a welcome addition to the typically dark Victorian interior.
All jewellery findings and chains are made with Stainless Steel (the most recyclable material available) unless otherwise stated.
